Overview
Durante un temprano y fallido intento de escalar el Matterhorn, Edward Whymper es rescatado por un guía italiano, Jean Antoine Carrel. Los dos hombres se hacen amigos rápidament y acuerdan escalar el pico juntos. Sin embargo, los aldeanos confabulan para dividir la alianza entre Whymper y Carrel y ambos acaban formando equipos rivales mientras parten en una carrera para conquistar la montaña.
